Barmer: 30 children hurt in school terrace collapse

The incident took place at Sunrise Public School, about 20 km far from the city. Three students with severe head injuries have been rushed to a Jodhpur hospital while the rest were receiving treatment at local private hospitals, principal medical officer at Barmer government hospital Hement Singhal said.

At least 30 students were injured when a portion of a local school terrace fell on them during a farewell function in Barmer on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Sunrise Public School, about 20 km far from the city. District collector Madhusudan Sharma has ordered a probe into the incident along with seizure of school records.

Barmer superintendent of police Anil Deshmukh said that they were collecting the details and would soon issue an official statement.

School manager Babulal Choudhary said immediately after the incident the school authorities rushed the injured students to hospitals.

The police said by the time the senior district and police officials reached the spot, the school had cleaned up the spot.
