The state government had requested the CBI to take over the investigation after the complainant questioned the credentials of investigation officer, additional superintendent of police (CID-CB) VK Gaur.

The 35-year-old woman, who said the minister had sexually assaulted her at his official residence on September 11, alleged Gaur had been posted in Dudu some years back on the recommendation of Nagar, who is an MLA from Dudu. A police official said they have received an official communiqué informing them about the change of investigating agency.

Nagar, a former dairy, khadi and rural industries minister, has denied the charges, dismissing them as a political conspiracy against him by his political rivals envious of his success. Nagar had resigned on September 20.
