No wedding card, wedding procession in a rickshaw, wedding attire taken on rent--- this is how the IITian son of former Kota mayor got married. This wedding without grandeur or any splendid display was organised to donate the saved money to the government schools for girls in Kota.

The wedding was held in Ahmedabad on January 22, where Ayush Jain, running his own start up company, married Ishita Dave, who works as an assistant film director in Mumbai. (HT FILE(REPRESENTATIVE PIC))

The wedding was held in Ahmedabad on January 22, where Ayush Jain (27), running his own start up company, married Ishita Dave (25), who works as an assistant film director in Mumbai.

Although the marriage ceremony was held at a luxury hotel in Ahmedabad for the comfort of guests, the family decided to go frugal in other wedding expenses.

Ayush said that he had created a website- www.alwaysai.com, where they not only sent wedding invites to the guests but also talked about their love story and the noble cause behind the frugality.

In the website, crowd funding was invited from the guests for improving the infrastructure of government girls school in Kota whereby guests could contribute online.

“We had set a target of Rs 1.50 lakh and so far we have collected over Rs 90,000,” said Ayush.

Ayush’s father Dr Ashok Jain is a leading physician of Kota and his mother, Dr Ratna Jain, is also a prominent gynecologist in Kota running her nursing home.

Dr Ratna said that the wedding attire was hired from an apparel rental online portal to curtail the wedding cost.

“I had prepared a website for the wedding on which I left a message for the wedding guests to donate money to boost education for girls. My mother had started a woman skill development program and has been teaching government school girls besides her medical profession. This act inspired me,” said Ayush.

Dr Ratna Jain said that their family will donate a total of around Rs 10 lakh to the government girls schools in Kota. They have already donated Rs 3 lakh each to Rampura Maharani School and Nayapura Bagh Government Girls School of Kota.

“We will also donate Rs 1 lakh to the Aas Academy and Rs 4 lakh to some other schools in Kota”, she said.

Dr Ratna Jain was the Kota mayor from 2010 to 2015.
