Tax evasion: Rs. 12 L recovered from sanitary items supplier

In a matter of tax evasion, the sales tax department on Thursday claimed to have recovered tax with penalty amount of Rs. 12,29,000 from a sanitary items supplier unit in Barmer. The tax commissioner claimed that the owner had paid the tax and penalty amount of Rs. 12,29,00 immediately.

In a matter of tax evasion, the sales tax department on Thursday claimed to have recovered tax with penalty amount of Rs. 12,29,000 from a sanitary items supplier unit in Barmer.

Akhedan Charan, assistant sales tax commissioner of Barmer, said on the directions of Jodhpur deputy commissioner office, the department conducted a survey at a sanitary items supplier unit located in Ray colony area here.

He said during the process they found irregularities in tax and stock. Charan claimed that during the process, the unit owner committed his fault and agreed to pay the tax and penalty amount.

The tax commissioner claimed that the owner had paid the tax and penalty amount of Rs. 12,29,00 immediately.

According to the state’s Value Added Tax act, Charan said, if a person does not want to file a case in such circumstances, he will have to pay the compound amount, which is 25% of the seized consignment, along with the tax amount.
