Blockade disrupts trains for nearly five hours

Train services in the Andal-Sainthia section of the Eastern Railway's Asansol division were disrupted for about five hours on Tuesday when locals blockaded the tracks at Suri station in Birbhum district.

Train services in the Andal-Sainthia section of the Eastern Railway's Asansol division were disrupted for about five hours on Tuesday when locals blockaded the tracks at Suri station in Birbhum district.

ER sources said that the blockade, which began at 6:32 am, was organised to demand change of timings of the 329 Up Andal-Rampurhat Passenger, increase the number of coaches of the 335-Up Andal-Sainthia Passenger and stoppage of the 3051/3052 Hool Express at Chimpai.

The blockade was withdrawn at 11:40 am.

Owing to the blockade, four passenger trains, besides the Dibrugarh Town-Chennai Egmore Express were detained en route for abour 5 hours and 30 minutes on an average.
