Trying to cash on the election fever, a sweets shop in neighbouring Howrah district has started making sweets in the dominant colours of flags of political parties.
"We wanted to do something different for the elections and so decided to make sweets in party colours. This has increased our sales as the election fever is catching up," sweet shop owner, Keshto Haldar said.
Enthusiastic party workers are thronging the shop to have their share of 'rasogolla' and 'sandesh' daubed in party colours. Not to be left behind, a designer sister duo are out with saris sporting party symbols Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdeva, the designer sisters, have lined up three exquisite saris in their Loudon Street boutique, embossed with the symbols of Congress, Trinamool and BJP on the borders.
The designers said they have designed the saris with a particular leader of the party in mind. "We had Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee and Sushma Swaraj in mind while designing them," Lamba said.
