A city court on Friday sent industrialist Ashok Todi, his brother Pradeep Todi and S M Moinuddin alias Pappu back to jail custody till Dec 17 for their alleged role in the mysterious death last year of the businessman's son-in-law Rizwanur Rahman.
All seven accused in the Rizwanur case - Ashok Todi, his brother Pradeep Todi, brother-in-law Anil Saraogi, former Kolkata police deputy commissioner Ajoy Kumar, former assistant commissioner of police Sukanti Chakraborty, sub-inspector Krishnendu Das, and Rizwanur's neighbour S.M. Moinuddin alias Pappu - were brought to a city sessions court in Kolkata.
Each was given a copy of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet stating their alleged role in abetting Rizwanur's suicide.
Metropolitan Magistrate Madhumita Roy said the next hearing of the case will be Dec 17 and Ashok Todi, Pradeep Todi, and Moinuddin will remain in jail till then.
Ashok Todi was in jail custody since Dec 1 and Pradeep Todi since Dec 8 and Moinuddin from Oct 31 after their respective bail pleas were cancelled by the court.
However, Saraogi, who was also in jail since Dec 8, was granted bail Thursday against two surety bonds of Rs.10,000 each.
Rizwanur, a 30-year-old graphic designer working with a multimedia firm, was found dead Sep 21 last year near the railway tracks at Kolkata's Patipukur suburb, barely a month after marrying Ashok Todi's daughter Priyanka.
