Do you use the smart way to get healthy?

When it comes to using a smartphone for health, majority opt for nutrition APPS over those for fitness.

Do you use your smart phone as a calorie counter or to remain updated about the latest diets rather than locating the nearest gym? Well, you are not alone. According to a survey, consumers who use their mobile devices for health rely on their gadgets more for nutrition and diet tracking than for fitness.

The research by American mobile operator revealed that just 10% of its customers use a smartphone or tablet for health and fitness on a regular basis, tech website Mobihealthnews reported on Tuesday.



The survey, conducted in early April, involved 527 post-paid customers. Of customers who regularly use their mobile phone or tablet for fitness/health activities, 64% said that they look up nutritional information, while 61% track nutritional intake and 56% track workouts, the survey reported.



Additionally, 16% said mobile devices help them eat healthier, 12% said mobile devices help them spend less time planning meals and help them feel healthier. While 11% said mobile devices help them increase workout frequency.



Also, 9% said their devices help them stay in better shape. Eight percent said that their mobile devices help them lose weight.



A survey by Pew Internet and American Life Project also reported that 11% of all mobile phone users had downloaded a health or fitness related app on their smartphone.
