Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is a star campaigner for the party he had founded in 1992, "though he may not be travelling as much" said a senior party leader on Sunday after initial list circulated on the social media did not have the former UP chief minister's name on it. The list was dated March 23. However, the official list released by the party in the evening named Mulayam its top star campaigner for the first and second phases of the Lok Sabha polls.

Dated March 24, the official list is addressed to the Election Commission. The previous list too was addressed to the EC. Both bear the signature of party national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav.
The others on the list of 40 are Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, Ramgopal Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav (the sitting Mainpuri MP who has not been given ticket so far) and Azam Khan's MLA son Abdullah Azam Khan.
The name of the party's national vice president Kiranmoy Nanda too was missing from the March 23 list. However, Nanda is a star campaigner on the March 24 list.
Samajwadi Party (SP) spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary, d himself a star campaigner of the party, said: "The list that we officially released to the media is the actual one. The list that the party had submitted to the Election Commission, perhaps, by a clerical error did not have Netaji's (Mulayam) name, so the party submitted the amended list and this was the list that was released to the media."
