PM Modi tags film stars, cricketers, journos and athletes in #VoteKar drive
In his tweets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to those he tagged to help ensure a record voter turnout.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to Twitter to tag leading lights across a range of disciplines to push for his #Vote Kar campaign to boost voting in the coming general elections.
“My fellow Indians, The time has come to say- #VoteKar. In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, ensure that you as well as your family and friends turnout in record numbers. Your doing so will have a positive impact on the nation’s future,” Modi said in his first tweet of the series..
He followed it up with another appeal to Anupam Kher, Kiran Bedi and Shekhar Kapur.
“The formidable @AnupamPKher, multifaceted @iKabirBedi and the widely acclaimed @shekharkapur have made India very proud at the world stage. My appeal to them- can you tell fellow Indians to vote in large numbers in the upcoming elections? #VoteKar.”
Next in line were Bollywood hearthrhrob Hrithik Roshan, Madhavan, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Madhuri Dixit.
He also urged cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin to encourage greater voter awareness and voter participation.
The Prime Minister also reached out to television news anchors to ensure high voter turnout.
Modi also tagged senior journalist Shekhar Gupta, Mohandas Pai and former chief election commissioner S Y Quershi and major newspapers like Navbjarat Times, Punjab Kesari, Amar Ujala and Sakal Times “to motivate more people to exercise their franchise through innovative voter awareness campaigns. #VoteKar”
Prime Minister Modi ended Sunday’s campaign by tagging India’s top three female athletes – sprinter Hima Das, gymnast Dipa Karmakar and wrestler Sakshi Malik “to inspire greater voter awareness and participation, specially among youngsters.”
