Dinesh Babu, who announced Rs 10,000 reward for the person who brought back his lost parrot, finally reunited with his missing pet on Wednesday.

His African Congo Grey parrot Lilly, which flew away on November 25 was found after 25 days. “After reading HT’s report of the missing parrot, the owner of a small general merchant shop Subhash called me up at around 10.30 am on Wednesday. I immediately went to his shop located nearly one kilometer away from my residence and was so relieved to see Lilly safe. I also gave Rs 10,000 to Subhash who was very happy to receive the reward,” shared Dinesh Babu. HT carried a story about the missing parrot on December 16th.

Dinesh Babu had launched an extensive search operation in the city to find Lilly. The parrot’s posters were also put up in different localities along with a campaign on social media. “I am unable to express my happiness on seeing her back in my home. I was worried that being an exotic bird, Lilly would not be able to survive on local food. I used to feed the bird with imported food,” said Dinesh Babu who is the chief finance officer in Allahabad Nagar Nigam and excise department.
