Kapil Kumar, a resident of Rahmatpur village in Muzaffarnagar, had frequent altercations with his family members over his addiction, a police official said.

Last evening too, when his parents stopped him from going out for drinks, Kumar locked himself up in a room and shot himself with a locally made pistol, police said.

Kumar’s body has been sent for post-mortem and no suicide note has been recovered, they said.
