Jet Airways’ Lucknow-Allahabad flight from today

To cater to unserved regions, Jet Airways is set to begin its UDAN operations from Lucknow.

To cater to unserved regions, Jet Airways is set to begin its UDAN operations from Lucknow on Thursday.

‘UDAN’ stands for ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’ - a regional connectivity scheme (RCS) launched by the central government.

Jet Airways’ inaugural RCS service will see it connect the holy city of Allahabad with two state capitals – Lucknow and Patna, thrice a week. The airline will commence its second UP-based RCS service on Saturday, June 16, connecting Allahabad with Nagpur and Indore, thrice every week.

Jet Airways flight (9W 3555) will depart from Lucknow at 0650 hrs (IST) and reach Allahabad at 0755 hrs (IST) on Thursday.

The airline was awarded seven routes under the government’s regional connectivity scheme (RCS) and will launch operations on five of these routes – Lucknow-Allahabad-Lucknow, Patna-Allahabad-Patna, Nagpur-Allahabad-Nagpur, Indore-Allahabad-Indore and Delhi-Nashik-Delhi between June 14 and 16.

Launch of the two other RCS routes connecting Lucknow, Bareilly and Delhi will happen once the Bareilly airport is ready for civil operations.

“The UDAN scheme is an initiative which will facilitate the realisation of the benefits of the aviation sector, reach the vast expanse of India and its various geographies,” said Amit Agarwal, deputy chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Jet Airways here on Wednesday.

Going onward, flight 9W 3558 will depart from Allahabad for Patna at 0820 hrs (IST), arriving in the state capital at 0935 hrs (IST). On its return, flight 9W 3557 will depart from Patna at 1010 hrs (IST) and land in Allahabad at 1145 hrs (IST). From Allahabad, flight 9W 3556 will depart at 1230 hrs (IST) and land in Lucknow at 1350 hrs (IST). The route will be catered to by a Jet Airways ATR aircraft with a seating capacity of 72 guests.

Effective June 16, 2018, Jet Airways will commence operations on the Nagpur-Allahabad-Indore sector.

Flight 9W 3553 will depart from Nagpur at 0945 hrs (IST) and arrive at Allahabad at 1150 hrs (IST). Going onward, flight 9W 3552 will depart from Allahabad at 1230 hrs (IST) and reach Indore at 1440 hrs (IST).

On its return journey, flight 9W 3551 will depart from Indore at 1510 hrs (IST) and arrive Allahabad at 1720 hrs (IST). Flight 9W 3554 will depart from Allahabad at 1745 hrs (IST) and arrive Nagpur at 1945 hrs (IST).

Jet Airways will also commence flying three times a week between New Delhi and Nashik with effect from June 15. Flight 9W 3565 from New Delhi will depart at 1200 hrs (IST) and arrive into Nashik at 1405 hrs (IST).

On its return leg, flight 9W 3566 will depart from Nashik at 1435 hrs (IST), and return to New Delhi at 1625 hrs (IST). This route will be serviced by a Boeing 737 aircraft.

Under the guidelines of UDAN scheme, 50% (36) seats on an ATR aircraft and 40 seats on a B737 are reserved.

Allahabad will join Jet Airways’ domestic network after 10 years becoming its 46th domestic destination.

On the other hand, Nashik will become its 47th domestic destination. The new flights will also stimulate the development of trade and tourism within UP and Maharashtra respectively.

Jet Airways currently operates daily flights between Lucknow and Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur and Abu Dhabi.
