CHARBAGH-HUSSAINGANJ TUNNELLING WORK ON

LMRC started tunneling work from Charbagh towards Hussainganj on Monday. The tunnel boring machine (TBM) ‘Gomti’ was pressed into service at the Charbagh launching shaft (near Deen Dayal Park). Before that, a ceremonial ‘puja’ was performed at the site by Kumar Keshav, LMRC managing director.

The TBM will cover a length of 462m from Charbagh to the Hussainganj underground metro station.

This will soon be followed by the launching of TBM ‘Ganga’ on the down line from the same shaft near Deen Dayal Park, for undertaking the final 446m drive between Charbagh and Hussainganj.

The tunneling between Charbagh and Hussainganj is the third and final leg of the tunnel drives planned for the underground metro construction in this stretch. Tunnel drives between Bapu Bhavan–Hazratganj and Bapu Bhavan–Hussainganj, which constitute 75% of the total tunneling length of 3,717m, have already been completed.
