A meeting of the rebel BSP leaders and workers was held under Siddiqui’s chairmanship at his residence on Wednesday. Several former ministers, MLAs and MLCs were present in the meeting in which a unanimous resolution was passed to float a new political front.
In a press release, Siddiqui said, “the name of the new front will be decided later. The door of the front will be open for rebel BSP leaders and workers who have been shown the door by BSP chief Mayawati.”
Meanwhile former minister Abdul Manan and his brother former MLC Abdul Hanan joined the BSP. The duo were expelled from the BSP before the assembly elections after which they joined the SP.
Addressing a press conference Manan termed it as ‘ghar wapasi’ (return home). Blaming Siddiqui for sidelining senior Muslim leaders in the party, he said due to his conspiracy he was expelled from the BSP.
