The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended a chief engineer of UP State Industrial Development Corporation facing CBI inquiry into alleged bank fraud in Uttarakhand.
"Chief engineer UPSIDC Arun Mishra has been placed under suspension on charges of abstaining from office for a long time citing medical reasons," official sources said in Lucknow on Sunday.
Mishra had applied for medical leave till April 23 but the corporation management asked him to join on April 21. Despite repeated instructions, Mishra failed to submit relevant documents pertaining to the leave, they said.
The CBI in February carried out searches at Mishra's Lucknow residence and Kanpur office in connection with the alleged multi-crore bank fraud in Uttarakhand in which some bank officials were also involved.
The agency later summoned the chief engineer to its Dehradun office but he failed to appear and is "reportedly missing", the sources said.
