Police have registered an FIR against a dairy farm owner, Pradeep Mahra, and his brother, Prabhat, for allegedly raping a woman in Suryabheet on Thursday afternoon.

Police said Prabhat had taken the 23-year-old victim to the dairy farm on the pretext of providing her a job. Once there, he and Pradeep allegedly locked her in a room and raped her repeatedly. They threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anybody.

The woman and her father lodged a complaint with Naini police soon afterwards. “The two absconded soon after the crime. We are conducting raids to arrest them,” said inspector Ramkumar Malik.

Pradeep is a local Samajwadi Party member.

Meanwhile, miscreants abducted and gang-raped a seven-year-old girl at nearby Ghoorpur in a separate incident the same night. Police have detained four suspects for questioning.

According to police, the girl was asleep at her residence when miscreants abducted her without anybody noticing. They gang-raped her in the fields, and then left her for dead. Fortunately, a woman passerby noticed the girl and informed her parents.

Senior superintendent of police Anand Kulkarni and circle officer Alka Bhatnagar rushed to the spot, and a forensic team and dog squad were employed in the investigation. Kulkarni said an FIR was registered against unidentified people under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as well as other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
