Soon, 1090 Powerline to help children also

The 1090 Women Powerline will soon help children also. The announcement in this regard was made by Navniet Sekera, IG (1090 women powerline), during the launch of the month-long campaign against gender-based violence.

The 1090 Women Powerline will soon help children also. The announcement in this regard was made by Navniet Sekera, IG (1090 women powerline), during the launch of the month-long campaign against gender-based violence on Monday.

“Till now, 1090 was a women’s helpline. But now we also plan to start a helpline dedicated exclusively for children,” said Sekera addressing the gathering at the function.

During the month-long campaign by ‘Save the Children’, nukkad natak competition for children, schools and colleges will be organised at Sheroes Hangout in Gomti Nagar, which will be inaugurated by Rita Bahuguna Joshi, minister for women and child welfare. As part of this, self-defence training would also be imparted in 50 schools.

In her address, G Shree Devi, member secretary, UP State Legal Service, said this is a much needed initiative and the UP State Legal Services Authority will take it forward in collaboration with ‘Save the Children.

“We will also run films on rehabilitation of street children and gender violence in video vans that run in villages during the jansunwais,” said G Shree Devi.
