"While one person was killed in poll violence in Kannauj, another died suffering from heart attack during rivals' clash in Unnao," an official spokesman said.

"Rival groups opened fire at one another in the Mandion area, while incidents of bomb blasts were reported from Hardoi, Fatehgarh and Firozabad in which several people were injured," he said.

In Fatehabad, a poll candidate opened fire on rivals and set afire the polling station after the local poll officer decided to suspend the voting on account of the violence.

State Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal has termed the violence as "minor".

The four-phased panchayat election would conclude Oct 30.
