Uttar Pradesh: New jammers, more jails in the pipeline

New jails will come up in Uttar Pradesh to relieve overcrowded prisons.

Minister for prisons Jai Kumar Singh Jackie on Wednesday said jails in Uttar Pradesh were being equipped with 4G jammers to prevent misuse of mobile phones by inmates.

The minister, who was visiting the city, said new jails will come up in the state to relieve overcrowded prisons. Construction of new jails has already started at some places, he said.

He said employment programmes had been launched for prisoners to bring them into the mainstream.

Singh added that recruitment for the vacant posts in prisons will start soon.
