Terminator 2: Judgment Day gets a new lease of life with this digitally re-mastered re-release that has the added attraction of 3D conversion.
Following from the blockbuster sci-fi hit The Terminator (1984), which cemented the reputations of director James Cameron and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the sequel saw a new and improved killing machine (Robert Patrick) sent back in time to eliminate the future leader of the human resistance.
Luckily for that young lad (Edward Furlong), and the future of mankind, a reprogrammed friendly terminator (Schwarzenegger) is on hand to protect him and his mother (Linda Hamilton).
The reissue — initially slated for release in 2016, to coincide with Terminator 2’s 25th anniversary — serves to remind us that with a mammoth budget ($100 million, back in 1991), the cinematic imagination knows no bounds. All these years later, it still has the power to thrill.
