A committee member of the hospital said the deal was cancelled because of “administrative bureaucracy, legal challenges and disruptive opposition from members of our community”.

President of the hospital Homa Petit, in a statement, said, “An excellent scheme which would have benefited the community, the hospital, and particularly its poor and needy, has been brought to naught.” The donors Jal and Pervin Shroff had set a deadline of September 30, 2019, to “ensure the future viability of the PGH”.
