Bhoiwada police have arrested a cook for beating a 42-year-old daily wage earner to death in Mumbai on Sunday night.
The police said that both Ramesh Wagela and accused Kalicharan Roy were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
An officer from Bhoiwada police station said, “The two were walking near a bar in Dadar when Wagela hit Roy on his head. After this, Roy got angry and smashed his head on a bench made of cement.”
Wagela’s brother Rohit said, “I was at home when someone came up to me and said that a man was being assaulted, so I rushed to the spot and found that it was my own brother.”
He added that Roy had beaten him up over a petty matter. He had taken his brother to KEM hospital.
The police registered a murder case and arrested Roy after Wagela’s death.
