Four arrested for stealing valuables worth ₹2 lakh
While investigating the thefts, the police team found CCTV footage where the accused group was seen targeting a pedestrian.
The Charkop police have arrested four persons, including three chain snatchers and the mother of one of the accused, for stealing valuables worth around Rs2 lakh.

The accused trio, identified as Sandeep Pradhan, 22, Mukesh Sahani, 21, and Pravin Achalkhamb, 19, used to work in a gang targeting pedestrians in the Charkop area of Kandivli (west). Police said the accused men had robbed two women of their gold chains this year. While in one case the group robbed gold chains worth Rs50,000, in another incident they fled with valuables worth Rs1.5 lakh.
While investigating the thefts, the police team found CCTV footage where the accused group was seen targeting a pedestrian. Based on the recovered footage, the team started a search for the suspects in the vicinity, and they were identified as local residents.
“After the three men were arrested, we learnt that Pradhan used to keep the stolen valuables with his mother Babita. She used to sell the valuables for cash,” said an officer from Charkop police station.
The four were taken into custody from their residences and placed under arrest on Tuesday. The police have recovered the stolen valuable from the group.
