Officers from Nehru Nagar police station, Kurla (East), arrested a man on Saturday and recovered five countrymade pistols from him. All the firearms were made in Uttar Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off, cops arrested Kisan Kevat, 28, from Sable Nagar near Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.

Primary investigation revealed Kevat bought the pistols in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and smuggled them to Mumbai in an express train. He wanted to sell the firearms at a higher price to make profit. The police said probe is on to find out his clients.

Kevat is a history-sheeter and has 22 cases registered against him at various police stations in Mumbai. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Arms act and for burglary, among others, in the past.
