Naser Bin Yafai Chaus, a suspected Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recruit from Parbhani, was in touch with a Pakistani national Abdul Jabbar Shakir, who has been arrested in Pakistan for being an ISIS sympathiser.

According to the charge sheet filed by the Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS), officers found several incriminating evidence, including a series of provocative conversation with Shakir, on Chaus’s phone.

A statement by Tapan Khole, who was part of the ATS investigating team, has been attached with the charge sheet. It claims that the agency investigated about Shakir and found that he is a resident of Sialkot, Pakistan. He is an ISIS sympathiser and was recently arrested.

Sources claimed that Shakir was instrumental in helping several Pakistani youths to escape the country and join ISIS and hundreds of followers on the social media.

However, the ATS has not probed the links further and beyond the statement of the ATS officer there is not much on the Pakistani link in the ISIS Parbhani module. Chaus’s mobile phones and hard discs of his computers have been seized.

The ATS officers found ISIS promotion songs in his phone and they are being circulated by the ISIS. The agency also found several video clips of provocative speeches.

The charge sheet said that the agency was asked to search for youths who were active on the social media and posted contents related to ISIS. The officer who lodged a complaint about the module set up by Chaus and the other accused said that Chaus confessed that he was in touch with a man named Farooque through social networking websites. The agency said Farooque taught Chaus bomb-making by sending him online links.
