Mumbai-Delhi August Kranti Rajdhani Express delayed as pantry staff alights mid-way

Railway sources said the pantry staff of the premium train had an argument with the manager and pulled the chain after the train left Mumbai Central

Passengers on board the Mumbai-Delhi August Kranti Rajdhani Express had a harrowing time on Thursday as pantry car staff of the train alighted to protest against the rule barring them from accepting tips.

Sources said the train was held up at Mumbai’s Borivli and Virar stations for 8 and 14 minutes, respectively. The train left Virar only after the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation replaced the pantry car staff.

Railway sources said the pantry staff of the premium train had an argument with the manager and pulled the chain after the train left Mumbai Central at 5.40pm.

When the commercial department staff on board the train realised the pantry car workers were missing, they stopped at Borivli to arrange for pantry staff.

Six staff members from Borivli station and six from Virar were sent to Mumbai Central by Flying Ranee train.
