Followed by the rail fracture at Kasara on Thursday morning, the Kasara- Kalyan- Karjat Passenger association have decided to felicitate the gangman on duty who alerted the authorities about the rail fracture.
"A 17 inch rail fracture was observed by the gangman around 8.30am. He alerted the senior officer about it immediately and helped avert a major accident," said Shyam Ubale, general secretary of the association.
The local services between Kasara and CST was disrupted during the morning peak hours due to the rail fracture between Umbermali - Kasara. The services were resumed at 9.25 am but the trains were running behind schedule till noon.
"We have decided to meet the gangman and the officer personally and thank them for their alertness," added Ubale.
