The student’s mother is the second prosecution witness to appear in the trial against the school trustee which started at the Dindoshi sessions court.

The witness told the court that her son, classmate of the three-year old survivor when she studied in the school, was also sexually abused by the trustee.

In her testimony, the woman said she was out of the city when the complainant, the mother of the three-year-old survivor, called her on May 16 last year. She told the her that her daughter had confided in her that a similar incident had happened with the boy.

The woman told the prosecution said that upon inquiring with her son, he told her that the “boy teacher” would often touch him inappropriately.

Defence advocates Harshad Ponda and Ashok Gupte raised an objection in the court stating that the son of the witness is not on the submitted list of witnesses to be examined.

They said they will continue cross-examination when the witness’ son is also examined by the prosecution.

The court instructed the prosecution to submit the video recording of the boy’s statement by the MIDC police, along with the list of witnesses it needs to examine during the course of the trial. The special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court will continue the trial on May 14.
