Rejected by girl, teenager attacks her with a blade in Mumbai

The minor girl, a resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar area, was headed to a shop on Sunday morning when the incident occurred.

A teenage boy attacked a 17-year-old girl in Goregaon west with a sharp blade after she refused to be romantically involved with him. The girl was treated at a nearby hospital and is out of danger, said police.

The minor girl, a resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar area, was headed to a shop on Sunday morning when the accused followed her. He confronted her and attacked her with a blade on her face. The girl sustained injuries on her cheek after which she was rushed to Bhagat Singh hospital.

“She was provided first aid and discharged from the hospital. We have arrested the accused following the attack,” said Shirish Gaikwad, inspector at Bangur Nagar police station.

The girl, a college student, had been avoiding the accused after he started harassing her and forcing her to be in a relationship with him. The accused stays close to the girl’s residence.

The police said the accused has been booked under section 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code. He has been placed under arrest.
