A block between Borivli and Andheri lasted from 10.35 am to 03.35 pm on the slow line. There were also blocks between Vidyavihar and Diva on the central line and between Kurla and Vashi on the harbour line.

“People tend to take their families on trips on Sundays. Travelling by a local train is a major hassle. Bocks on all three lines result in overcrowding at stations. The railways should consider conducting maintenance work on Saturdays and not Sundays,” said Shashi Anand a Goregaon resident.

Railway authorities said time constraints prevent them from holding blocks on Saturdays.
