1 dead, 3 hurt in Vile Parle slab collapse

MUMBAI: A 25-year-old woman died while three people were severely injured after a slab collapsed during garage’s renovation in Vile Parle (West) on Tuesday afternoon.

MUMBAI: A 25-year-old woman died while three people were severely injured after a slab collapsed during garage’s renovation in Vile Parle (West) on Tuesday afternoon. The Juhu police have arrested the contractor for causing death due to negligence.

According to police, the deceased, Sujata Pujari, and the three injured labourers were working on the roof of the garage situated in New Mangal Co-operative Society at SV Road in Vile Parle (West). Half of the roof collapsed and the four workers fell down. While Pujari had sustained severe head injuries, others too are grievously hurt.

“The fire brigade removed all four of them from the rubble. They were immediately rushed to Cooper hospital where Pujari was declared dead. The other three labourers are recuperating,” said senior inspector Sunil Goshalkar of Juhu police station.
