A fight between two groups of young men at the Madness pub in Khar turned ugly when one of them smashed a bottle on the other’s head. The injured man succumbed to his injuries at Bhabha Hospital on Friday.
The Khar police had initially registered cross complaints against both groups as the young men from both sides sustained injuries in the fight that happened on October 10.
According to Khar police, Nasir Shaikh, 25, the deceased, along with two friends, Ibrahim Qureshi, 24, and Shadab Shaikh, 23, from the Bharat Nagar area in Bandra, were dancing at the pub that night.
An officer added, “Sushil, the one who smashed the bottle on the other’s head, was dancing along with three of his friends. Nasir brushed against him a few times while dancing and this angered Sushil.
Their argument, however, turned into a full-blown fight ending with Sushil allegedly smashing a liquor bottle on Nasir’s head.
Nasir started bleeding profusely and was taken to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra. Two days ago, he was shifted to Sion Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The Khar police converted the assault case against Sushil into murder after Nasir’s death. Sushil is absconding.
The cops have arrested one of his friends, Jyotiba Kokane.
Meanwhile, the management of the pub Madness has denied any knowledge of the incident.
