4-yr-old girl crushed under cement mixer at churchgate

Kavya Binani, 4, who was crossing the road with her mother near her school at Maharshi Karve Road, Churchgate, was run over by a cement mixer on Monday afternoon.

B Kumbhar, assistant inspector of police at Azad Maidan police station said, “Around 12.15 pm, when the girl and her mother were about to cross the road near Ayakar Bhavan, the driver of the cement mixer lost control of the vehicle and hit the child.

Locals took the badly injured Kavya to Bombay Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.” Kavya’s mother Alka survived with minor injuries.

Police arrested the 24-year-old driver of the mixer, identified as Sanjay Premlal Dahai.
