The spate of crimes against senior citizens in the city refuses to abate, with another senior citizen found murdered in her home on Saturday.
Pramila Ghodi, 87, was last seen by her son Arun, 67, and his wife Smita, 64, who live in the adjoining flat at Shanti Niwas building in Vile Parle (East), at about 10.30pm on Friday night, when she retired to bed.
When Arun went to fetch newspaper the next morning, he found the latch of the door broken. He decided to check on his mother and found her lying unconscious in her bedroom. Pramila died on the way to hospital.
According to Arun, the jewellery his mother was wearing is missing, as are some ornaments from the cupboard in her room, the lock on which had been broken.
Neighbours say they did not notice anyone suspicious entering or leaving the building and heard no signs of a struggle.
The police do not have any suspects in the case yet.
