Activist attacked in Agripada

The police registered a case of assault against unidentified accused for attacking a social activist from Agripada locality on Sunday. The police said the victim Isamila Suleman Shah, secretary of an NGO named People Work Welfare Society, has been related to various social issues in the locality.

The police registered a case of assault against unidentified accused for attacking a social activist from Agripada locality on Sunday. The police said the victim Isamila Suleman Shah, secretary of an NGO named People Work Welfare Society, has been related to various social issues in the locality.

Shah had also taken up the case of irregularities in Slum Rehabilitation Authority project of Topaz Co-operative housing society at Sunderdas Compound of Dr A Nair Road. A petition filed by him with the Bombay High Court was scheduled to be heard on Monday in the high court.

In his statement, Shah said when he gone to a rented property that belonged to him where an unidentified youth in his early twenties approached him asking him if he was Ismail. As soon as he replied in the affirmative, the youth was joined by three others who attacked him with sticks, severely injuring his right knee.

Shah told the police that he suspects the attack was at the behest of people against whom he has complained.
