A BEST employee reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Charkop residence on Monday because he was frustrated with his failing health. No suicide note was found.

Hanumant Mane, 46, who was initially employed with the BEST as a driver had moved to clerical work after undergoing a surgery. Mane was diagnosed with stomach cancer five years ago, and was depressed because of his deteriorating health, the police said.

“The body was found by his wife, who he had sent to the post office for some work,” said Ram Bandekar, assistant police inspector of the Charkop police station.

A case of accidental death has been registered.
