The NWC has taken suo motu cognisance of the molestation and is probing the attacks on women police personnel. Chavan told the NCW delegation that the women constables were trained like their male counterparts. “We expected 15,000 people to gather at the maidan and deployed police force accordingly,” Chavan said. But the attack took place all of a sudden, he said. He assured the delegation that all those guilty of the attack would be arrested after reviewing video footage.
NCW chief Mamata Sharma demanded armours and kits for police force on riot control duty. She praised the women constables for defying the attackers even though their lives were at risk.
