Court allows CBI to interrogate Indrani, Khanna until Nov 17

The metropolitan magistrate court on Saturday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to interrogate INX Media co-founder and key accused in the Sheena Bora murder case Indrani Mukerjea and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna until November 17.

Mukerjea, her former driver Shyamvar Rai and Khanna were produced before the metropolitan magistrate at Esplanade court on Friday because their judicial custody expired. The court has extended their judicial custody up to November 20.

On Saturday, when the trio was produced in court, Mukerjea and Khanna came face-to-face for the first time after being remanded in judicial custody. Both were seen chatting in the courtroom.

Meanwhile, the CBI had moved an application seeking permission to interrogate Mukerjea and Khanna over some documents.

Sheena Bora case: Indrani gives consent for voice sample test

Public prosecutor Kavita Patil also told the court that Mukerjea’s voice samples are yet to be taken because of technical glitches.

The magistrate court has allowed the application of the prosecution and permitted CBI officials to interrogate Mukerjea and Khanna in jail till November 17.

Indrani, Khanna and Rai were arrested in August for murdering 24-year-old Sheena and disposing of her body in a Raigad forest in April 2012. Sheena was allegedly strangled in a car and her body was burnt before being dumped in the forest. A case was registered with the Khar police station, but was later transferred to the CBI for further investigation.
