The warrants were issued on August 27 by Principal Sessions Judge ML Tahaliyani, who was also the trial judge in the 26/11 terror attack case.

The high court had, on August 12, admitted an appeal filed by the state, challenging the acquittal of Ansari and Ahmed in the case. Warrants have been sent to the UP police as Ahmed is lodged in the Lucknow jail while Ansari is in the Bareilly jail.
