The former chief minister was speaking at an interactive session conducted by the Indian Merchants Chamber on Mumbai Development: Shiv Sena’s perspective.

“Mumbai is generally a dirty city as people spit where they want, throw garbage as well as dry their clothes, spoiling the view of their buildings,” said Joshi.

“There is no planning as we see potholes in the middle of each road and politicians are busy saving slums as they are their vote-banks,” he said.

“We also see how BMC officials are busy patronising hawkers and everything is being managed,” he added.

Joshi expressed hope that things would change soon. “This city has given us everything and it is time for us to repay it,” said Joshi.

He appealed to the business chamber to place plans before the central government for the betterment of the city and readily agreed to be a part of any such delegation.
