"I met Congress president Sonia Gandhi recently and apprised her of the situation," Nilangekar, among the seniormost leader in state Congress, told PTI here today.
"I pointed out that neither myself nor former MPCC president N M Kamble were appointed to the panel, which has several less deserving people on board," he said.
The Congress veteran from Latur district in Marathwada region, said "if the party does not require my services, I am ready to quit politics and sit at home."
"When I was the MPCC president, Congress won 38 of the 48 Lok sabha seats in Maharashtra," he said.
"I have been a loyal worker of the party and enjoyed patronage of late Indira Gandhi," he added.
