In a terrible act of vengeance, two brothers who had filed a police complaint against a family of local slumlords in Sakinaka were stabbed to death at their residence in the locality on Tuesday night.
Six members of the family of slumlords — three of whom had been released on bail on Tuesday — barged into Jeetendra Singh’s one-storey home in Veer Savarkar Nagar at Asalpha, located off the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, at 10 pm and stabbed his son Avnish, 27, an LIC agent, several times with choppers, Saki-naka police said. Avnish’s brother Ashish, 22, was chased and killed when he tried to intervene.
When the father of the siblings tried to intervene, he was attacked with a chopper. He has been admitted to Seven Hills hospital and is critical.
Three of the accused — Sunil Sharma, 40 and his brothers Sanu, 26, and Rakesh, 33 — had beaten up the uncle of the Singh brothers on Sunday after he had parked his auto at a spot the trio claimed as theirs, the police said.
The brothers rushed to help him and then called the police, which led to the trio’s arrest.
After their release on bail on Tuesday afternoon, the three barged into the Singhs’ residence along with Sunil Sharma’s wife Sunita and brothers-in-law Rajesh and Pintu.
