Parab left the Sena in 2005 and joined the Congress after a stint of over 25 years with the party. Parab was formerly general secretary of the Shiv Sena trade union, Bharatiya Kamgar Sena.
After joining hands with the Congress, Rane formed a new union, the Maharashtra Samarth Kamgar Sanghatan where Parab was the general secretary.
However, a rift grew between Rane and Parab in 2009 when Rane’s son Nitesh came to the forefront. “ I have always been a Shiv Sainik at heart,” said Parab.
Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said no one could stay away from the Sena for long, and the phase when Parab left was unfortunate.
