Maharashtra: Truckers plan to rope in bus operators to step up stir

Mumbai’s bus operators said they will meet on Monday to decide whether they will participate in the strike, which is likely to be on October 7.

As the nationwide transporters’ strike continued for a fourth day on Sunday, the Maharashtra Rajya Truck Tempo Tanker Bus Vahatuk Mahasangh, one of the state’s strongest transporters’ bodies, has asked bus operators to also stay off roads for a day to support the agitation.

The city’s bus operators said they will meet on Monday to decide whether they will participate in the strike, which is likely to be on October 7.

Sources said school buses will continue to run, as many schools are holding exams. “About school buses and contract buses that run for companies, we will decide on after the meeting,” said a leader from the Bus Malak Sanghatana, the city’s bus operators association.
