The Bangur Nagar police have not registered a missing person’s complaint for Bharat Thakur who has disappeared since Tuesday.
The Bangur Nagar police have not registered a missing person’s complaint for Bharat Thakur who has disappeared since Tuesday.

Thakur is a witness against alleged 26/11 mapmaker Fahim Ansari. The police had gone to serve him a court summon but did not find him and declared him missing. But no one in Lakshmi Nagar in Goregaon (West) knows of his existence.
“No one from Thakur’s family has approached us about his disappearance which makes it clear that they either know his whereabouts or they do not live in the city,” said Inspector Suresh Nalawade.
Thakur was reported to have visited Nepal with Nuruddin Shaikh in January 2008 but Nuruddin’s family denied of having known Thakur.
Lakshmi Nagar residents on Wednesday said they have heard that one Bharat Marwadi, a resident of Jawahar Nagar in Goregaon (West), was a friend of Nuruddin.
“We had heard that Nuruddin was friends with some Bharat but his last name was Marwadi and not Thakur,” said Nuruddin’s cousin on condition of anonymity.
Crime Branch officials, however, said they are making attempts to trace Thakur. “Most probably Thakur has returned to Nepal,” said an official on condition of anonymity.
On Tuesday in the Lakshmi Nagar slums three men named Bharat were traced. Two were autorickshaw drivers and the third had arrived from his village five days ago.
Nurruddin, the only one who can identify Bharat Thakur, was unable for comment as he was out of town on duty and would return four days later.
