One killed, one trapped as wall collapses in northeast Mumbai

One labourer was killed and another trapped under the debris of a building wall which collapsed in Kanjurmarg’s Karvenagar in northeast Mumbai on Saturday, an official said.

One labourer was killed and another trapped under the debris of a building wall which collapsed in Kanjurmarg’s Karvenagar in northeast Mumbai on Saturday, an official said.

The accident took place around 9.30am at the MMRDA Complex building No.3 when two workers were engaged in decentring work (removing wooden covers from dried cement walls).

One of the victims, Indrajeet V Chavan (20) was pulled out and taken to Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’.

Work is on to rescue the other worker, identified as Mahesh K Dashrath, who was still trapped under the rubble, said an official of BMC Disaster Control.

Three fire tenders and personnel of other rescue agencies are engaged in the operations.
