Four opposition party leaders on Friday submitted an application with the police to register an FIR against chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, chief secretary Jayant Kumar Banthia and other senior bureaucrats, alleging that the massive fire at Mantralaya, was owing to their negligence.

BJP MLAs Devendra Phadanvis and Nana Patole along with Shiv Sena MLA’s Ashish Jaiswal and Girish Mahajan submitted two applications at the Marine Drive police station at 1:30 pm.
“They alleged negligence on part of the CM, chief secretary, PWD minister, chief fire officer of Mantralaya and some Urban Development department officials,” said an officer.
The leaders demanded the accused be booked under Section 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. Police are yet to register a case.
“We have received the applications and are looking into it.,” said Ravindra Shishve, DCP (Zone 1).
