Robbers stabbed woman to death

A woman was on Tuesday stabbed to death and her husband seriously injured after being robbed off by two motorcycle-borne persons at Parel in central Mumbai, police said.

The victims, identified as Beena and Jatin Desai, were on a morning walk at around 0545 hours when the incident occurred, senior inspector R B Poman of Kalachowkie police station told PTI.

According to police, the two robbers stopped the couple and tried to snatch their belongings. "When the couple resisted, they (robbers) subsequently attacked them with a sharp weapon, injuring them seriously," Poman added.

The robbers decamped with their belongings, including a gold chain; police said adding the woman was declared dead while her husband is recuperating in a city hospital.
