A 28-year-old mechanical engineer from Satara was arrested in the city for allegedly murdering his wife on Wednesday.
Baban Yadav, 28, a resident of Varni Village in Satara, was employed with Satara-based company K Borat Fabrication. Yadav had been married to Smita for the last six years and the couple has a two-year-old son.

Yadav allegedly suspected his wife of having an extra marital affair because of which the couple had frequent altercations. On Wednesday, an argument between the couple turned violent when Yadav hit his wife on the head with a stone, killing her, the police said.
To escape arrest, Yadav rode from Satara to Pune on his motorcycle. He went to the railway station where he parked his bike and took a train to Mumbai. He reached Mumbai Central station on Thursday morning and spent two days on the platform, the police added.
On Saturday morning, Yadav reached Colaba and was wandering near Electric House with his head covered with a towel.
“As he was walking in a suspicious manner, two of our constables stopped and questioned him. He gave vague answers, so they took him to the police station,” said Vinod Sawant, senior police inspector of Colaba police station.
Yadav told the police he had come to Mumbai after killing his wife. The Mumbai police have informed the Satara police who will come to the city and take custody of the accused.
